No file, no problem. We design from a brief, sketch, calipers, or a photograph. Or send us the physical part for scan and print: we 3D scan the broken or obsolete part, rebuild it in CAD (Fusion 360 or SolidWorks) and print the replacement.

What is 3D Printing Express?
3D Printing Express Limited is a UK 3D printing bureau with two workshops, in Broadstone (Bournemouth and Poole) and Newbury. From there we serve Dorset, Hampshire and the South West, and businesses right across the UK. We have been trading since 2023, making prototypes, small-batch production runs, event props, large-scale activations, CAD designs and replacement or obsolete parts, with 11,183 parts shipped so far this year (as at October 2026). Our design consultants, engineers and 3D printing specialists review every brief, and you get an engineer-reviewed quote within 2 working hours. Every UK order ships free on next-day delivery, and our minimum order is £50 (£100 for resin).

Before you send a brief
Most fit and durability issues we catch upstream, before printing. Every brief is reviewed by a real engineer · we check wall thickness, orientation, support traps and material choice, and flag anything that looks risky before you commit. If something does come back wrong, reply to the dispatch email and we’ll work out the fix together · in practice that’s almost always a small tweak we already saw a hint of in the brief. We don’t promise a blanket reprint, but we do promise an honest conversation and a real fix.
Yes. A photo and a couple of dimensions is enough to start. A sketch with rough sizes works. A broken part posted to us works. We turn whatever you’ve got into a printable file (CAD & reverse-engineering is one of our services). CAD design is costed case by case.
Standard turnaround is the queue you see above · 5-7 working days. If your deadline is tighter, three paid tiers move you up the queue: Fast Track (3-5 working days), Priority (1-2 working days) and Express (as little as same day). Faster tiers cost more, and we quote the difference up front. Tell us the date, we’ll tell you which tier (or whether the date is realistic) before you commit.
Hobby-grade FDM has visible layer lines, stringing, and elephant’s-foot at the base. Ours doesn’t. Every job runs on calibrated printers with hardened nozzles, dialled-in temps and flow per material, and Polymaker / Fiberon filament. If you need post-processing (vapour smoothing, paint, dyeing, threaded inserts) we’ll quote it as part of the brief. The event-tray and the Beryl Bikes case studies above are both unfinished prints straight off the bed.
STEP, STL, 3MF, OBJ, IGES, F3D, SLDPRT. We prefer STEP because it preserves the design intent (we can tweak wall thickness or split for orientation). STL works fine for finished geometry. If you only have a sketch, photo or hand-drawing, send that · the CAD service builds the file from there.
Material cost (per gram of filament used) + machine time (per hour the printer runs) + post-processing (only if you need it) + a small handling charge. A £50 minimum order (£100 for resin), no setup fees, no per-unit penalty for ordering one. Quotes are itemised so you can see exactly where the cost sits · same logic whether you’re ordering 1 piece or 1,000.
